extending turnbuckles
 

I just purchased an Islander 30 that has been re-rigged. It appears that the forestay was cut shorter than planned and the turnbuckle has a length of threaded rod fitted as an extender. I do not know what the rod is made of but am considering replacing it with threaded stainless rather than recut a new forestay. Any thoughts on the safety or advisability of this?? I haven't been able to find any info on this from my researching. Thanks in advance to all.

Look for a longer bodied turnbuckle, and use just one side. Alternatively, add toggles to make up the length. At least they're designed to carry the load. A piece of s/s all thread is definitely NOT the way to go.

Or give Rigging Only a call, they are awsome to work with and give a great price. There may be a threaded extender that I'm not aware of.
