Lewmare Super Lock or Spinlock XAS Rope Clutch?

I want to get a double rope clutch set up for my Main and Jib halyard. I've narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.

I've heard Lewmar doesn't wear out lines as fast.
Spinlock grips harder
and Garhauer doesn't make any for 1/4" line, but I've emailed to see if they'd start carrying them.

The spinlocks (IMHO) look better than lewmar, but I've personally seen 2 of them break on 2 separate boats. They continue to hold but the handles break off either when they're left open and someone steps on them, or if there's a bad lead coming out of the clutch they won't close all the way, if you force them, you can break the handle off by hand.

I believe the handles breaking on the spinlocks are due to sun exposure and the plastic getting brittle. Does lewmare have the same issues? If Garhauer would make clutches for 1/4" lines, this wouldn't be an issue, as they use aluminum handles.

According to the PS magazine tests, the Lewmars grip almost as well as the Spinlocks but chafe/abrade the line much less...which means your lines will last longer.

Also, a problem with the spinlocks is that under high loads they are not releasable without easing the load first. That is not the case with the Lewmars.

However, the Spinlock and Garhauer clutches can handle a wider range of line diameters than can the Lewmars, so you need to get the right Lewmar for the line size you'll be using, and you may run into problems if you decide to change to a thinner or thicker line at a later date.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I think the lewmars would be a better choice for me then. I plan to use 1/4" halyards, and if anything, I'd go bigger the next time around. I just want to make sure they're beefy.

I have had the Lewmars for 8+ years and they work as good today as the first day.
Well priced too.
