joethecobbler is on a distinguished road
I just bought a pair of PUR/ Katadyn watermakers from a gentleman. He said theywere aboard the boat w/ other items from the previous owner.
one 40e and a powered 35 also a spare electric motor, alkaline and bio stuff and seal kits for the 35 I believe.
I "cleaned the 35 and the 40 w/ the solution as per the owners/operators manual and the 35 quite pumping, I then dissassembled the 35 and it was dirty inside. I cleaned and re-assembled w/ the old o-rings and such. tested it (35) by running seawater through it and the output was impressive and it "tasted" fine. no salt or other taste or odor.
I would like to get a TDS metor and a Salinity metor or method to test the water futher before I injest any quantity !
But for a couple hundred dollars I feel pretty good about the purchase.
Now I just have to decide if I want to install them both or just one and trade/sell the other. Plenty of reasons to do either. ..... Decisions, decisions...
