Winch question

My boat has Lewmar 6 standard single speed winches. I would really like to upgrade to self tailing. I looked around at several boating websites including this one and have found that everyone is really proud of them. At least an investment of $1200 to replace both primary winches.

Is it possible to buy just the drum and replace that? It seems to me that is the only difference.

Also, I find no reference, even on the Lewmar website, to a Lewmar 6. Could this be now referred to as Lewmar 16?

Thanks

The Lewmar 6 winches are listed right here. No, there are more differences than that AFAIK.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
