Removing paint from Diamond pattern Non Skid

I tried searching for info on the forum prior to posting this, but with no luck.

My current rebuild, a Shark 24, was painted by the PO. I am faced with the near impossible task of removing paint from the original diamond pattern non skid which is molded into the deck. In areas where the paint is really thick, I can use a scraper and a quick hit with a heat gun to remove it, but where it is thinner, I cannot seem to get the old paint off. Any ideas how to remove old paint from the diamond non skid? Is there a paint remover that is safe around fiberglass?
