Rudder post hole

Hello,

I have a 1975 Catalina 30. It has a leak at the top of rudder post hole and under the wheel gear for the steering.
It only leaks while underway and not at the dock.

Anyone out there have info on this issue?

Thanks in advance

Is there a packing assembly on the post? If so it may need to be tightened down just like a prop shaft would.

That seems resonable but as for as i can tell there is no packing (like shaft packing). There are 2 rings that are loose and right above that a hose clamp around the rudder post. The water is coming from the top of the rudder tube where the rudder post slides in. ?
