Crosscut or Radial

I,am in the procces of buying a new genoa, for our 27'' sloop & am looking 150% furling sail. The question is, is it worth it to spend an extra 150$ for a radial sail over a crosscut sail? The crosscut would be made of 6oz dacron & the radial would be made of 5oz dacron. Would the radial give more preformance and what are the advantanges, or disadvantages? Thanks, Ron

Crosscut or Radial

A radial will hold its shape and have a longer shape lifespan than a cross cut.
A radial (for furling/reefing) can be constructed of lighter weight cloth near the luff and heavier cloth near the leech ... so that when reefed only the heavy is exposed and the lighter weight rolls up better and with less wrinkles.

Suggest you get a foam luff added for reefing for either config.
