ARS III vs newer regulators
Pokey came with a Balmar 90A alternator and ARS-III regulator. When we repowered, we stuck with the alternator/regulator that came with the engine (Yanmar 55A alternator and built-in regulator) for a couple of years at the recommendation of our Yanmar distributor (warranty coverage issue). This past season, it was recommended that the Balmar setup would do a better job of fully charging our battery banks, so we re-installed it. Things seem fine, although I can't really say I notice a difference - the batteries are kind of long in the tooth and I had been having reefer problems. Anyway, the ARS-III has been replaced in the Balmar line-up and I wondered what, if any, features are in the newer regulators (Balmar or otherwise) that I'm missing out on.
TIA
