If it is, there is a swivel at the top that attaches to the top of the mast. It allows the whole foil to rotate. These are prone to eventual failure (as mine almost did), because it there is a LOT of tension on that swivel.

The head of the sail would be attached to another swivel that rides up the foil, and your halyard attached to that.

I'd get up there and make sure that if there is a swivel attaching the foil to the mast, it is in good condition. Mine had separated by about a quarter inch, which was really scary. It also added friction, which made the sail hard to furl.

I took some photos of mine, but I can't seem to find them...

Your system is a Hood Sea Furl Mark II. It is not a Hyde Stream Stay.
You do have a wire headstay. The "drum" you see on top is the halyard swivel.

boy, I'd love to get the info on this system, but I don't have a fax number. Maybe I can solve that problem somehow.

that faxing service wanted my credit card # for their free fax program. Kinkos works better for me now that I checked things out
