Depth transducer connect to GPS

I have a through hull transducer that was connected to a Raymarine fish finder (which the instrument no longer works). My handheld Garmin GPSMAP 60sx will show depth with the right input. Anyone know if there is a "black box" that will allow the connection of the transducer to the GPS?

Sorry but you can't get there from here. What your GPS is looking for is a NMEA input (a protocol marine devices use to talk to each other) from an operating depth finder. The GPS just takes the information form the depth finder and adds it to it's display. No black box exists.

I dont totally agree but could be wrong.

A sonar unit can be had in many variations and makes that are an independent units to be used with remote screens and transducers of many types.

I think you will find however this is not nessarly a cheaper way to go..But Im pretty sure the information would show (depth numbers only) on your paticular GPS screen.

I would guess that if the transducer connected to a Raymarine device that it is a Raymarice transducer? Regardless, it is conceivable that the transducer could plug into a device that could output NMEA. I suggest you call whoever made the transducer and ask. Its unlikely, but you never know.

Its also possible that you could get a new fish finder that outputs NMEA.

I understand not wanting to replace the transducer, since it is the thru hull type.
