Thoughts on a Sayes Wind Vane for a Chris Craft Apache?

I'm new to the windvane game -- I see the sayes is designed for ketches, double enders, hyrdrolic steering, and other tricky steering vane situations -- I have a chris craft apache -- a pretty classic S&S design from the late 60's, I need an upgrade from my belt driven autopilot and the local marine consignment store has a sayes in good shape at a good price, worth it or no? I see it doesn't use an auxillary rudder which takes away one of the advantages of a windvane, but not steering for a long time is a good one too
