Winch for Assym spin

I'm thinking of installing 2 self tailing winch on the cockpit coaming for Assym sheet. Is there any selection guide as to the size, ratio, dual/single speed etc.. ?

Harken has winch sizing guides on their website, as do most of the other manufacturers.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

You can find a Lewmart guide at thttp://www.mauriprosailing.com/index.html. I wouldn't get the ST for use with spinnaker sheets, as they are eased as often as trimmed...you wouldn't use the self tailing often.

Sailingfool is right, don't get the ST, but if you do doesn't hurt..

as for size, if you get the same size as you have for the genoa, can't go wrong either.

ok, that would be Lewmar 30. doubt dual speed is required.

Assuming your boat is Hunter 33 feet, and you sail in moderate to strong winds, a dedicated Spi winch , not self tailing, would be anywhere between a 20 and a 30..

No need for a 30. But if you can pay the difference, it doesn't hurt, and gives you more options for the future, should you want to add something else.

We find that the ST winches leave a lot less cleats to POKE you and are very easy to ST or use as a standard winch

It is also very fast to lock it in and out of ST compared to a cleat

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat

NO

But we do have 4 cockpit ST and 4 deck ST on the C&C 35 in the picture which is used 100% for racing and find them priceless

(I have ST primaries and love them for my cruising about, but...) What use is the ST feature on the secondaries used with the spinnaker sheets? Do you leave the aftguy in the ST rather than cleating it (that'll be a big OUCH someday!)? You can't use the ST with the working sheet..I can't see what good they are, and I'm even surprised you'd use the ST on the jib sheets...nothing fast about that approach.
