Mexico Boatyard?
Does anyone know of a good yard in Mexico capable of a full topsides refit (Including new Teak Deck) for a Baltic yacht? there are not many yards that I would trust to do the teak deck properly. Most of the yards that I have seen are good at the hardware but the Deck refit has to be done so carefully and is so labour intensive that it is common to find that corners have been cut which often leads to serious problems later. Anyone had any experiences?

If you are near the border I'd drive down and check out Baja Naval in Ensenada. Can't comment specifically on teak deck refits but they do good work on the other wood related projects I've seen come out of there. As with any yard you'll probably be happier if you can check on the project while it's underway.
If you're taking off the old teak you might want to consider glassing and non-skidding the deck. It'll be lighter and easier to maintain later FWIW. Good luck Ike |
The boat is in San Diego at the moment so I will take your advice and drive down to check them out. Thanks for the info.

No problema mi amigo! We had work done there and drove down several times (from OC) so it was worth it for us.
Good luck with the decks Ike |
