Changing Engine mounts on Bayfield 32- help!

The front engine mounts need replaceing on my Yanmar 2 banger. Problem. When one removes the hold down bolts one finds that there is a nut on the other side. A llose nut, in an inaccesable (I think) space between liner and hull. Has anybody experience of this? And what is the opinion about substituting Helicoils instead?
A really poor design. How did the engine get mounted in the first place, I wonder.
Any help much appreciated.

While I'm not familiar with your boat, I found it much easier to unbolt the bracket that attaches to the motor from the motor first. Then remove the mount and bracket from the boat as an assembly. Then separate the mount and bracket on a workbench.

If you look under the engine there are four 1 1/2 hole's in the location of each mount. In some cases the fuel and bilge hoses are run through these and must be removed to access the nuts.

Thanks for the response. Removing the mount is not a problem. It's access to the nuts that is. My mechanic, who noted the problem, may have come up with the best solution. I'll see this weekend.

Thanks for your response. I don't recall seeing said holes but I will check this weekend. My head tells me that they don't exist but then I've never looked for them. My mechanic, who noted the problem, may have come up with the best solution which is, funnily enough, to add a couple of 7/8 holes in the vertical surface of the engine bed on the forward end. Structurally I don't think this will be a bad thing. The alternative is to remove the cabin sole. Messy, but negates drilling.
