new anchor

I have a spade anchor (S40 - 13 lbs.) that I recently purchased. I is discontinued at West Marine so I got it for an unbelievable price. It retails for $300+ and I purchased it for $70. I was originally going to purchase the 15lbs Manson Supreme for $180 when I came across this amazing deal. $180 is already stretching my budget. The Supreme has a lot more surface area than the Spade. So my question is if it is worth trading for the Manson ( $110 more). Is the performance gain worth paying 150% more. Let me just add that I LOVE the Spade and in the few times I've used it, it has been outstanding. But then I think about getting a bigger boat and the Spade would be too small where the Manson can be used (according to their respective size charts). I could always just buy the Manson when I eventually purchase a bigger boat (about 2 years away) and use the Spade as a spare. FYI in case it comes up: I can't afford a Rocna and don't need an over sized anchor due to the fact I only anchor in good weather. My only question is the one stated. Sorry for the long post. Sorry if this is a repost. First time posting and I think I screwed up the first one.

I have a 20 foot that only displaces 1100 pounds. It's a center console. Not a Sail boat. Sorry for posting on this site but you guys DEFINITELY know more about anchoring than any of the other sites. And with the horror stories I've been through, I researched for about two weeks on every site imaginable. I've had to sort through the Craig (Rocna) and Alain (Spade) posts trying to find an anchor.
The boat is about 1/2 ton which is way within the limits of the Spade I have. I'm just thinking about a future boat as well.

A 13 lb. Spade should be fine for your boat. However, it would be a bit small for use as a storm anchor...but if you're out in a storm in a center console that size, you're in trouble to begin with.

Put at least 20' of 1/4" chain on it though.. that will help a lot.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I try to not ever be out in a storm. I'm not a cruiser. Just a couple of hours at anchor per weekend. Didn't think paying 150% more for the Supreme is worth the little performance increase I may see due to it's bigger size.
I have been out in the occasional thunder storm here in SW Florida. But nothing where a "storm" anchor would be needed.

Should be fine then. Don't forget to mouse the shackle pins, so they don't come loose.

With your 25-feet of chain you're cool.

Thanks Craig. I appreciate the reply. I figured that the Spade was much better as far as quality and construction. I was really just thinking about a future (bigger) boat. I originally looked at the ROCNA. I've researched it it heavily including on this site. I've read all the Halekai36 posts who has a ROCNA. But I simply can't afford it. Not for the type of boating I do anyway. So I guess my dilemma is solved. I'll keep the Spade (which I love) and when I upgrade the boat, I'll simply budget for a bigger anchor (hopefully the ROCNA).
