up the mast
My main halyard is 5/32 stainless wire spliced to 7/16 rope. I replaced it new two years ago, so it is in good condition. Here is my question, is the wire/rope splice strong enough that I can use this halyard to safely hoist someone up the mast? I understand there is a lot of force exerted on the main while sailing and I would think the splice could support a 200 pound man, but, better safe than sorry.
In the past I have used my jib halyard (all braided line) when I needed to go aloft, however in order to reach my wind transducer, I need to use the main halyard.
Thanks in advance,
Terry
