Has anyone had a similar experience with this year's batch of Lewmar Synchro blocks. I have had four blocks fail, two loosing there balls and two jamming up. They are the sized for 10mm - 3/8" and rated at 800 kg. They were used with 8 and 6 mm lines and never saw anything like an 800 kg load.
I'd contact Lewmar and the company you bought the blocks from. They could be counterfeits.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Even if they are genuine... they could have been a manufacturing defect... and if you got them all at once, just a bad run of blocks. That said, I am pretty sure Lewmar would replace them for you out of goodwill to a customer.

Certainly a manufacturing defect. What every the balls in the bearing were made out of, it was two soft. Lewmar pointed me to my suppliers, so the offending items are in their hands now.

I had a dream, I was sailing, I was happy, I was even smiling. Then I looked down and saw that I was on a multi-hull and woke up suddenly in a cold sweat. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Interestingly, I had a problem with Lewmar this year. While single handing close hauled in a moderate breeze (about 17 knots apparent) one of the shackles on the mainsheet simply failed. I was astonished when the boom just suddenly shot out to leeward about 6 feet (measured at boom end) until the remainder of the main sheet assembly caught it. I could not imagine what the cause of failure was until I looked at the block on the boom and discovered half of the shackle still attached. The other half was lying on deck. And when I say half, I mean a big fat metal failure, in conditions that should not have stressed nearly as much as it should be designed for. I wrote to Lewmar, who promptly said they would replace it and volunteered to replace every one of the blocks and shackles in my main sheet assembly. I thought that was surprising, since there was no problem with any of the blocks, but this post may explain why. They sent it right out to me. I do find failures of this kind quite unnerving, as there are plenty of times one trusts his life to the equipment.
