Opening portlight gasket material??????????

Hi: I would like to replace my opening ports with new gasket material, some kind of flexible rubber such as used on refrigerator doors. I was told about a 40 shore would work. I need 1/4 X 1/2 lengths or a sheet that I could make the lengths. Anyone know of companies that might sell such material. Thanks for any info..

I got some gaskets that were perfect match to my old gaskets using BUNA-N O-RING CORD STOCK

EPDM would be better, and possibly cheaper. Buna is rated poor for weatherabilty while EPDM is rated excellent. Buna is good around oil, under the engine cover, out of the sun.

Omatako will become famous soon enough
What kind of port lights are they? I have older Lewmars and tried everything with o rings, butyl tubing and a heap of other stuff. Nothing worked.

I eventually contacted Lewmar who charged me a huge price for their custom extrusion and after recovering from the cost, I've never looked back. They seal perfectly.

Just as an FYI, the gaskets I'm referring to are the ones that actually seal the hinged moveable portlight portion of the porthole. As such, that gasket isn't exposed to much light, if any. Anyways, we got no leaks and the whole hootenanny for eight opening ports cost me less than $20!

Our Ports are very old Wilcox Crittenden (never been put onto a boat), but before we put them in, because they are so old, we wanted to replace the gaskets. Thanks to all for your information. Dmarina
