Mystery thru hull......

Ok, so i had the bright idea to take pictures in the nether regions of my bilge to see whats in there. To my great surprise there is a capped thru-hull under the floor right in front of the head door. Now when i bought the boat it was on the hard, and i counted all the thru hulls and accounted for all them in the boat. This guy wasnt there, but its there on the inside. I went in the water and felt around where it is, and there is nothing on the outside of the hull. What gives?

Had this on one of our previous boats too.. probably a thru hull location that wasn't used in your particular boat, so was blocked, faired in and forgotten.....

We removed and glassed in the one we had, but access was better than what appears in your photo.

Yea, no joke. Ive owned the boat over 2 years now and just found that sucker last week. Its dry around it and i never have water come in from there, so ill let it be for now.

What i dont get is, theres no room for a seacock in there.

could be one of those flush thru-hulls, they are pretty easy to fill and forget, I guess.

The boat is a pearson 36, it only has one head. The head discharge is in the factory spot. Its on the list of crap to do when the boat gets hauled this winter.

Best to leave it alone -- if I'm not mistaken it's the through-hull for the optional but all important conundrum.

Is the position suitable for through- hull log or sounder transducer- doesn't look like it in the photo, too much of angle?
Is there an optional cabin layout for your boat from the builders- maybe suitable if heads are in another location on different model.

Definitely not a transducer fitting there... wrong type, and as you say, wrong location.

Could be the liner was meant to be cut out to make way for the seacock/valve for some optional plan, but since it's useless now as is, and is not presenting a problem (and not prone to accidentaly impact due to its location) it's probably best left alone, as the ever-clever JRP suggests.
