Agree on the masonry bits, the cutting edge on them is more like a metal chisel with a double taper on the tip, a wood or metal bit is sharpened on one edge like a wood plane
A trick for drilling plastic is to drill from both sides, drill partway through then flip it, it reduces the chance of splitting by keeping the breakthrough in the center of the material, it doesn't eliminate the chance, just reduces it.
