Need help finding Practical Sailor article: 10 foot RIBs

Hi All -

I'm about to purchase either an AB Navigo 9 VS or a Caribe 9X RIB. I recall that Practical Sailor did a review of a bunch of 10 footers, but all of my Practical Sailor's are at home, and I'm on my boat. If anyone has the issue handy, could you tell me about the 1) Max speed for both dinghy's, and 2) Any of the ratings that look important? Or perhaps scan it in and e-mail it me? I'm trying to make a decision by tomorrow to leverage some boat show pricing. Also, any comments on either dinghy would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

The July 2008 PS article on 10ft RIBs does not cover either model in your posting. The AB is the 10VL and the Caribe is the L10.
  • AB - 21 mph, Caribe - 17 mph
  • Ratings for the Caribe are generally better than for the AB.
  • Warranty on the AB is 10 yrs vs 5 for the Caribe.
  • AB holds 5 people (1269 lbs) vs 4 for the Caribe (1296 lbs) -- go figure.
That's the whole ball of wax

I was thinking that the general build and quality along with features would be similar between various models. I've been leaning towards the Caribe, but the speed differential is fairly large, and that's the primary reason we're upgrading from our inflatable floor Avon.
