Starter Problem

I have a 2gm18 Yanmar diesel which the starter works intermittently. The starter was rebuilt 2 years ago and the solenoid replaced. In addition, all main wiring from the batteries to the perko (1,2,all&off) switch and to the starter was replaced 3 seasons ago. At times (usually inopportune) when pressing the starter button a click is heard at the starter but it dosen''t turn over. I can jump the positions at the starter and it starts right up. Should I replace the solenoid again or are there any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Starter Problem

A lot of discussion about this subject on the Ericson Web site.
One possibility - undersized wires.
I had a problem similar to yours, and replaced the original #14 wire from the starter switch to the solenoid with a #10.
Worked great.
