Wax job and exhaust smoke

Hi,
I just had the bottom painted and while the boat was out of the water I had it polished and waxed. Looks real nice. However when I motored back to my mooring, about an hour 1/2 away, the smoke from the exhaust clinged to the wax on the transom and now won't come off. I am guessing I am going to have to remove the wax and wax it again, but what can I do so that this does not happen again?

Thank you,
Kim

Kim-

The exhaust is high in hydrocarbon byproducts...which stick really well to wax, which is mostly....hydrocarbons...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Hi Sailingdog,
While your explanation is interesting it does not help me fix it. Any tips? I see many clean transoms out there

Try using a hull wax that has teflon in it...that might help the hull shed the exhaust soot.
