Simrad WP32 Any Good???

I may be able to purchase a Simrad autopilot. The WP32 is no longer being made and the unit is new old stock. Anyone have experience that can help me decide if this is a good risk? Anyone know if parts are available for these things? Are these units reliable?

I like the idea of installing a self contained unit on my E 32-200. I sail in the great lakes.

I owned two, a WP-30 and a WP-32 both were shipped back to Simrad for repair on multiple occasions. While they worked, they were not what I'd call accurate and both had many problems. I'd guess they were discontinued for a reason...

The Raymarine S1 is a much better unit with far better accuracy. yes it's trickier to install but it's a pay now or pay later type of thing. Raymarine is coming out with a new model to replace the S1 that is supposed to lose the rudder position sensor but as of yet it has not been released..
