Re insulator wax - do you mean the Collonite Insulator Wax they use for power line insulators? Do you sail in salt or fresh water? The insulator wax sounds like an interesting option.
Re lanolin - i looked into that last year- input from others seem to indicate that the grease is going to fly off once the prop spins up - so its a near term solution.
