Dinghy Chaps

I have a AB 9VL dinghy and I would like to buy dinghy chaps for the boat to keep the sun and the dogs claws off the tubes. I searched around the web and no one seems to make them. SailRite has the tools and instructions but I don't have the talent.

I'm told that dinghy chaps are fabric like sunbrella that just cover the inflatable tubes to keep them clean and keep the sun off them. Our dog loves to hang over the bow and you can see us in the 2008 Newport Harbor Guide with the dog hanging over the bow claws digging in to hold on.

Get a copy of the latest Good Old Boat magazine. They have an article on chaps (mostly a how-to for making your own). Take said magazine to a boat canvas shop and see if they can quote you a price. I'm guessing a 9 footer would soak you $900 to $1,200 to have a one-off set custom made.
