prop shaft

Hi

Today I took the prop shaft out of my 84 C&C MkV so I could replace the original seal with a PSS dripless to find the shaft damaged (scored). I am looking for a supplier for a new shaft, coupler, and a cutless brg. I was wondering if there are any suppliers in Toronto Canada area for this stuff??

I was just wondering if they could just weld and turn a shaft like they do a automotive crankshaft.

Is replacing the entire shaft less expensive??

Replacing the shaft is probably less expensive than welding and turning the shaft... and less subject to corrosion... unlike a crankshaft, the weld on a propshaft will be in conditions where it will generally be far more prone to corrosion.

A machine shop can do the shaft and you can order the coupler and bearing from almost any marine catalog. I'm assuming that your shaft is REALLY scored and can't be "buffed out"?
