Bottom Paint

I am thinking about painting the bottom a few days after the boat is taken out of the water, probably next weekend. If I don't paint it before January 1 the yard requires that they paint it for me.

Is there a problem with doing this 8 months before I launch the boat? There is an ablative paint on it now, so I would be using an ablative, maybe multi-season paint.

Painting now, with a multi-season ablative should be fine.

If you use a non-multi-season ablative, there's a very high chance that it will "deactivate" before you put the boat back in the water—wasting your money and time.

Gotta read the "instructions" on the paint can. Like the "dog" said, some of the bottom paints don't like to be left out of the water for too long.
