Charging Batteries

I have two alternators on my engine....one has an external "Smart Regulator", the other an internal regulator....Can I connect them both to one battery bank?

Charging Batteries

If I had such a set up, I''d connect the one with the internal regulator to the engine starting bank, and the external stepped regulator one to my house bank. This assumes you have them separated (isolated electronically).
If you connect both to one battery bank they will sense the incorrect higher voltage and neither will charge the batteries properly.
You might want to read Nigel Calder''s book on boat maintenance & systems.
