BEFORE pictures

I plan to post before and after pictures. Here are the before pictures, of the whole spinnaker, and 2 of some of the worst tears.

As planned (and as recommended by CLucas and tommays), I brought my spinnaker to the Doyle shop in Huntington. I talked with Mark and Earl. They gave the nickle tour to my son Lucas (a.k.a. Kick) and me. They have the biggest sewing machine I've ever seen, mounted right on the floor. The operator actually sits on a stool in a pit next to the sewing machine.

I did get the 10% discount for bringing it in off-season. They had a whole wall of sails to be worked on this winter. They will call me when it's done. They can store it (I think it's like $2.85 a pound to store = maybe $150), but I'l save the money instead.

They can put a third reef in my mainsail for about $560, IIRC. That would be useful, but I think I'll save the money and get a storm trisail instead. (That and my sailcover has some significant "sail" area.) Any thoughts on that?

They said not to bother with the hole in my jib. Size-wise, you could put 2 toothpicks through it at the same time.

They can address the issues I have with my mainsail battens. (Mark said the sail may be stretching when I do a jibe, causing the battens to come loose.) I'll have to bring the mainsail there on a separate trip, maybe when I pick up the spinnaker.

And they can fix my mainsail cover, where the batten sticks out. They do canvas work "of course".

I have pictures of the place and Mark & Earl, if anyone wants to see them.

Again, I can't wait to see that baby flying!! Even if it's going to be next year.
