Drain the heavy-weight oil from the lower unit as well. After I dunked mine, I found about a 1/2 pint of water in the mix - not sure if it was from the dunk or prior offenses, but I found water nonetheless.

All the other advice above sounds good to me too, although I used Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder after flushing the brine out. It'll smoke like hell at first, but that's just the MMO giving it's love.
