i did my own, cost was 10 bucks. there is a sign shop 2 blocks from me, cost of the material was 10 bucks, then i found a font the wife liked i printed the letters out then cut it out with a razor blade. including cutting and applying time was about 2 hours. most of that was bouncing in the dingy on the hook with the waves let me see if i can find a pic

edit with pic

I used goof off to remove the painted lettering on my boat, which is ONLY availible from Lowes, as they bought the rites to it! I want to say acetone will work, then again it could be mineral spirits, which is similar to goof off.

I had a local sign shop to the vinyl lettering for my boat, then again, they did the lettering or my biz trucks too.

Did you buy the regular or the Do-It-Yourself weeding and tape option ?

Thanks

There has not been much in the regular "adhesive" world that has not come off with WD 40. Really! Got Duct tape sticky - WD 40, got that black builders acoustic stuff they put around windows - WD 40 even takes labels off wine bottles that I want to re-use - just rinse real well!.

And no - I own no stocks in WD 40 nor in Duct tape - I wish I did.

A boater friend of mine always says "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together."

Cheers

Talking

Duck Tape and WD40 are the only tools you really need to fix anything. If it moves and isn't supposed to, Duck Tape it! If it is supposed to move but doesn't, WD40 it!

Naptha is basically the same thing as Goof off. Charcoal lighter fluid the same. Goof Off just smells prettier.

To remove either painted or vinyl lettering from your hull Goof- off, lighter fluid, charcoal lighter will all work, but probably take more rubbing than easy-off oven cleaner or Drano. Acetone will attack the fiberglass. The first three are organic solvents, poisonous to fish and other marine animals, and flammable. They do not mix with water, but float on top. Most hardware store paint removers will attack fiberglass, and the bottom paint removers made for fiberglass are expensive. Oven cleaner and drain cleaner are strong caustics, will attack your skin, require rubber gloves while using them. However, they will dissolve and disperse in water and react with any acid substance in the water so they leave no detectable or poisonous residue in the water. Drano and most other drain cleaners will run, whereas Easy-off oven cleaner is thick and will stay in place to soften the paint. IMHO oven cleaner is the preferred choice! I have used it, it works well!

We brought vinegar to the party and it cleared up the yellowing right away.

Apply, rest, remove, rinse, vinegar then rinse again.

The unsighly residue will be gone and the boat will stop smelling like a sub sandwhich in just a few days!!

I used vinyl lettering on the stern 23 years ago and it still looks good.
