Identifying Mercury OB 9.9

Helllo again,

I would like to do some maintenance on my OB while not in use over the winter. I have looked at the Mercury website, but can't seem to find much to help identify older moldels. The PO said the motor is a 2001 Mercury 9.9. Does anyone know of a source online to help identify which model I may have and where to find owner's manuals for these?

i would like to know the proper fuel, spark plug model, maintenance guides, etc.

thanks,

Chris

Google is your friend.

Here are pictures of a 2001 Merc 9.9:

Is that the one?

You are likely looking to spend infinitely less, but here is a link to buy the manual: link

I think so-almost all of the decaling has come off or is brittle, but it looks like it. I googled just about everything I could and found nothing. Thanks for the link.

This is very helpful.

Thanks,

Chris

BTW, the engine serial number should be able to tell you what make/model engine it is...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Bought the manual "used-new condition" off of Amazon.com just now for $20.

Thanks,

Chris

Make sure you have a four stroke and not a two. I have a Merc 9.9 two stroke from 2004

tommays will become famous soon enough
You must use the #tag on the motor as there are allways changes to the motors even during the same production year

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat
