Teak Bolt Head Cover

Anyone know where I can get a teak cap for bolt heads? (Not a hole plug). My boat has some of these in the interior for small diameter bolts that go completely through the bulkhead. They dress up the interior and match the existing teak paneling. I've found plastic cap covers, but no wooden ones.

How big, I've seen ( prepackaged ) as big as 5/8, if ya need bigger, go to Tool Mart and get a plug cutter in the size you need, then get some teak stock in the thickness you need and bang out a bunch

Sounds like something fancy. Might be an OEM thing for a higher end boat.
Wood lathe and some teak stock? Depending on where you live there might be someone that could turn some out for you for reasonable compensation. Don't be afraid to ask. I have never met a wood worker craftsman that wasn't willing to do whatever necessary to help you out.

Hell, he can go to HD, pick up a bench top drill press (cheap ), get a spiral plug cutter (maybe not so cheap )and bang out as many ( or few ) as he needs.

you can get a SPC anywhere from 1/4 to 3-1/2" dia

oops, I miss read it, you want caps

No worries though, once you made the plug to the dia you want, find the center of the plug and use a forestner bit and drill a hole a tad smaller and a tad deeper than the bolt head, then all you do is tap the plug ( now a cap )onto the bolt head.

That sounds like it would work pretty well. Cut as a plug first, then hollow out the middle with Forstner bit (or regular bit if bolt head too small) to match bolt head size. I can then sand/round over the outside. The major hazard will probably being very slow with cutting to prevent shattering the small part.

try this also, determine what OD you want the cap first, lay it out on the stock, cut all the pockets first with a forestner, then go back with a SPC and cut out the plug(s), that way your working with material size that easy th handle and you wont be try to cut pockets into harder to hold plugs
