My recently purchased 40'' racer/cruiser will need a prop replacement. She had an 18'' 3 blade Gori that could not be repaired. I now have the choice of replacing ''like for like'' or perhaps going with something else.

Any thoughts regarding Mas-Prop vs. Gori? Are there other good solutions? The price is about the same for either approx. $2500. Should I purchase at the upcoming boat shows this fall?

Why would you not go with a three blade feathering prop?

Oops, typo- should have been ''Max-Prop'' which is an automatic feathering propeller. Anyone have opinions regarding a relative comparison between Gori (folding) and Max-Prop (feathering)? They are around the same price so it really comes down to:

1. Drag
2. Use- prop walk, reverse, power/economy fwd. etc.
3. durability and installation/maintenance

I had a Jensen Flexofold on my Catalina 36. It had extremely low drag but was useless in reverse with vicious prop walk. I have a Max -Prop 3 blade on my Jeanneau 43 and love it. It has higher drag but I have almost no prop walk. I''ll back the 43 into places I''d never try with the 36. If low drag is your only concern then get a geared folder.
