Primus or Taylor or Patria are all good burners. There may be others by now. My experience is from 1976 through 1992. Then we went propane.
What is wrong with the burners that you have? Usually they can be fixed quite a few times.
You must have a
fuel that is very close to real kerosene. Diesel and many hydrocarbons foul the burners very quickly. Jet
fuel and some
paint thinners have worked for us, but using the wrong
fuel can also be very dangerous. Never use gasoline or lacquer thinner, etc.
You must pre-heat the burner. Alcohol works well for the preheat, but there are many tricks to using a kero
stove. We cooked all of our meals for about 14 years on kero. It is MUCH easier if you know the tricks. They are NOT user friendly
stoves. ;-) Just fine once you learn how.

PS Did you know Tavi & Sheila & Eric on Lasqueti a big ferrocement ketch, yellow with a canoe stern. They were in and out of Thailand for several years. I have bad news. The people are OK, but Lasqueti hit a coral head and was lost south of India.
