Ok I ended up getting one of these and all I gotta say is MAN that's bright.


The ones I got are silver but a little spray paint will fix that.

I have great hopes that the price of LED nav lights and the "Sensibulb" replacements for the cabin will drop in the next few years. Me, I don't care if I can't read by my nav lights, but I dislike reading in the cabin by those bluey-white LEDs that make everyone look like a zombie.

One thing LEDs are great for, however, is for dim lighting at night to show you where the steps are or inside cupboards or lockers. I have a tiny LED with a magnetic switch inside my medicine cabinet that comes on when I open the door and shows me where I've left the toothbrush I haven't used to clean out the winches...

Those $10 jobs look good for the engine bay, because they would send light straight down into the bilge.
