VHF w/ Squelch Break Output

Hi folks,

I'm trying to find a Marine VHF radio that has an output that changes state whenever the squelch on the radio gets broken, has anyone seen this feature on Marine radios ? My amateur radio has it, but it is probably to support packet radio or something like that so I don't know if I am going to find this feature on a regular VHF radio. Of course I could just buy an expensive radio that has it, but I am trying to keep costs down and would prefer as simple/inexpensive radio as is reasonable.

Thank you for any information.

N0NJY is on a distinguished road
It's possible to make it work without that - but that will void warranties.

With a cheap enough radio, I wouldn't mind that. I can use a soldering iron, and I won't blame you if it doesn't work out, what did you have in mind ? Maybe switching off of one of the LCD indicator lights on a signal strength display ?
