Furler blocks on outside of lifeline?

I remember someone posting a thread about blocks that could be attached to the lifeline stanchions to run your furler line on the outside of your lifelines. Harken has some, but I thought someone found better blocks that would allow less friction on the line. We need to put jerrycans on the inside of our lifelines, and the furler line currently runs right where the cans will sit. I can't seem to come up with the right search parameters. Maybe it was on a different boat...

LOL... did one more search and actually did find it - it was your thread indeed, and it was the harkens. Do you still like them?

Definitely still like them -- but truthfully, I only installed them in November (same trip when we saw you in Annapolis) and haven't used them much yet. But based on how they cleaned up our side-decks, I'm thrilled so far.

My PO put blocks on the toerail. I thought about changing them out but I don't have enough stanchions to be able to use the Harken blocks. They do run very smoothly, I just need to move slightly.

It looks like Garhauer also has something similar - all stainless steel instead of the plastic Harkens. http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=57 - it's the SB3's. The rest of my blocks are Harken though so I'll probably end up with those...

I mentioned in the other thread that I inspected the Garhauer SB3s at the boatshow and found them to be a robust but somewhat clunky alternative. The Harken OSLBAs by contrast seem much more refined with a cleaner installation. But note SailingDog's caution about over-tightening them, an issue I did not encounter.

And I probably chimed in on that other thread and said that I installed the Garhauer blocks last year and was pleased with the way they work. I preferred the look of the stainless Garhauer blocks on the stainless stanchions.
