Right Anchor for LI sound

Hi, We are buying a 40 ft sailboat and need to add an anchor. We will primarily be sailing around eastern CT, Gardiners Bay and Block Island. What is the best anchor for a combination of safety and if we just want to anchor off the beach for an afternoon. The boat is equipped with an electric windlass.

You'll have to stop by Lake Montauk, I'll buy you a beer or two. We keep our boat there a bunch, when we are not cruising the same grounds you are.

I have a Danforth style 25 lb and have been all over Long Island Sound out to Martha's vineyard and Buzzards Bay, have anchored in winds up to 45 kt with no trouble. Have even anchored with a 31 foot boat rafted to mine using only my anchor in 20 kt winds and had no trouble. The only problem I ever had is retrieving the anchor in the morning, some times it's set so hard it takes a good 15 minute to get it off the bottom.
