Prop Coupling Replacement? Catalina 270

I noticed that there was much corrosion on my coupling (?) on the prop shaft of my 1994 Catalina 270. It is kind of chalky/clay-like when I clean it. I assume that is very old corrosion. Here are a few photos of it.

Any advice on how serious a problem this is and if it needs immediate replacement? Any other ideas or comments?

Thanks!
Jim

If your talking about that gray thing you did a close up on for the second pic that would be your zinc to prevent electrolosis. That is a few bucks at west marine.

Yes, that (the close up) was the thing I was talking about. I never knew where the location of the zinc was but now this explains much. Thank you!

Rockter will become famous soon enough
Trescool :

If ever you are looking for it, the propshaft coupling is that device immediately aft of your gearbox where the gearbox joins to the propshaft.
