winch handle
1 Attachment(s)
My father and I are restoring a 1974 Macgregor Venture 25 and are almost finished. I have searched high and low for a winch handle for the stock winches that are on it. I have attached a pic of the winch. Does anyone know where I could find a handle for this un-marked winch. Or maybe someone has one they are willing to part with.

i would call bacon and assoc in annapolis maryland, get an email addy and send that pic. they should be able to identify it, and maybe have a handle for it.
if they dont, they sell used stuff to you might be able to get a modern one for a decent price |
snubber winch?
Is it possible that it does not use a winch handle? There are some small winches, called snubber winches, that are designed just for holding the sheet as you pull it is manually.

I think KS might be correct. The top of that winch doesn't look like one that accepts a handle.

Thank you all, I will let you all know what I find out about this winch. I will be checking out snub winches tonight.

How about a flat bar that would fit the cut out and a hole to fit over the center and a handle.
It looks like the handle could be lifted off the driving dogs without comming off the center part. Just a thought. |
I was thinking about trying that. Thanks for validating my thoughts. I will make on out of steel to see if it works. If it does I will weld one out of stainless. ( i teach sculpture and have tig that will do it)

You could have a machine shop punch one out for you. Or if you are willing to learn a new skill. buy the stock and do it yourself.
