Replacing Roller Furling

WHOOSH, Maybe you ought to go back to your hank on sails. There are likely and unlikely failures. Halyard wrap falls squarely into the unlikely catagory if the furler is properly installed. I really can''t think of a scenario that would would cause this to suddenly and inexplicably happen. Can you?

Halyard wrap can happen after a sail change.

If you forget to forget to tighten the jib halyard, then try and furl the sail... Don''t ask me how I know

As Rob states, that''s one way to get in trouble when over-torquing the furling line. Another is if the furling line is fouled at the bottom drum because the lead block slipped; happened on 2 boats I know in the last year plus.

The notion that once something is installed correctly, it no longer can present problems is a foreign one to me.
