Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Frederickson Sail Slides???
They appear to be a hybrid of regular sail slides and the
Harken reciprocating ball bearing sail slide system. The upside to the Frederickson system is that it does NOT use a track, thus saving some $. The sail slides have the usual plastic piece that fits inside your mast sail track but add a housing on the outside that have a reciprocating ball bearing system that keep the entire slide positioned properly on the mast track. This supposedly keeps the slide from binding and thus eases its movement.
This could be a good way of getting the advantage of easier sail handling, at somewhat lower cost. Unfortunately, each slide cost $80. That is not very attractive, but perhaps at a discount somewhere, would be something I would purchase.
Anyone use these???
Thanks
John
