UH OH "Actually" Alert!:

Yeah, to be precise on the history (as anyone with a computer could find) Lewmar put Barient out of business, and more recently, Arco-Hutton has supplied parts for Barient winches. The Actual link to Arco Huttun HUTTON-ARCO Yacht Winches

The instructions usually mention to clean and grease but do not over grease.
Do not grease the pawls. Just light oil as grease can cause them to stick making the winch not do its job.

West Marine sells a Barient winch repair kit for small winches typical on boats under 40 ft, according to the advertising. I haven't physically seen it yet, so I don't know if it will work for what I think are old model Barient #22 and #10 winches on our new to us old boat. Says Lewmar is supplying them (?) Barient Winch Repair Kit #1, Lewmar Barient Winch Repair Kit #1, BARIENT (LEWMAR) Winch Repair Parts

I just found another supplier talking about a similar kit,not sure if it is the same one. Their page says " For all single-speed winches less than 11 years old" Chinook 34 Chandlery Lewmar Winch Repair Kits & Maintenance Packs Barient Pawl Spring.
