Using longer footed main on short boom

This is dumb to ask I know, but I have access a main sail that has a foot maybe a few inches longer then my boom. What can I do to use it temporarily on my existing boom? Yes money is that tight for me just now.

the friend that has the sail and I were talking and we thought we could figure out something. In the meantime he's going to measure it again just to see if it does fit my boat.

It it was small you would be fine BUT big cant really be worked around as you will not be able to use the outhaul correctly and the sail will just be a chubby mess

Hi Denise,

Without modifying the sail some, the only thing you may consider is to put in a permanent first reef. You didn't mention it being too tall as well so this may lead to a shorter than desired main.

Well, Until I get some accurate measurements... Meanwhile I have teak to scrape and sand. labor of love.. yeah right..
