pencil zincs on 2GM20F?

hi
coming up on 1 year of owning a caliber 28 with a yanmar 2GM20F. Does anyone know if there are any pencil zincs (or any zincs) that need to be replaced in this engine? I've heard 2 conflicting answers to this- yes and no. I'm going to contact yanmar for the owner's manual but does anyone offhand know the answer?
thanks
brad

I have the 3GM30F and

there are no zincs that I am aware of. Always best to check with the manufacturer, which you already have stated you are doing.

I have one of those motors, and a manual, not not recall seeing pencil zincs anywhere. Altho that is not to say a motor built before or after my 85 model may or may not have them......

Dr B is correct. There are no zincs in a Yanmar 2GM20F. Smile nicely and find a new mechanic if yours tells you there are zincs. I had a friend whose auto mechanic used to service the antifreeze every year for her Volkswagen Beetle.

thanks all- I got through to yanmar and you are correct- no zincs on the freshwater 2GM20F's- but on the seawater cooled models apparently there are. Thanks for the responses.
