Exhaust gasket material?
Looking for a recommendation for high-temp exhaust gasket material for an old, funky set-up on my 1972 NorthStar. The exhaust connection is a flange-fitting, 5" outter diameter flange around a 2" diameter ID, secured by 4 thru-bolts, dry. Not wet exhaust. Water meets up with the exhaust right near the exit thruhull. This flange connection is after the exhaust's heat exchanger, so it's not as hot as the exhaust gas is when it exits the engine, but still very hot...would estimate it needs to withstand 400f or so. Suggestions on material to make my own gasket to go between the 2 halves of the flange fitting?
And please don't tell me to re-engineer the whole set-up. It's March.
