I'm with Poopdeck and Faster- drill more holes in the hull? I don't think so. Guess I'm just never going to be cool.

Next thing is that people will be suggesting that socks don't go with sandals.

I was thinking about putting an UW light on a swing arm, that is mounted on the transom above the water line. Then when you want to turn them on, you swing the arm down. Or you could leave the arm up to add more stern lighting, to help be seen in shipping channels, or when backing at night.

That would leave everything above the waterline. You could even mount them to your swim ladder if you wanted.

Jody,

This light is $10 + $5 shipping and is billed as waterproof. I'm considering mounting something like this on a swing arm, or on the swim ladder.
