Autopilot dead, help!

My sailboat came with a dead Navico 8000. I think, the heading sender unit is dead. Small chance of finding replacement

The pilot has two main parts. The electronics and the hydraulic parts.
It seems that I should be able to replace just the electronics and keep the hydraulic parts. After all it is a electric motor driving a pump left or right.

Any Navico owners that have replaced the electronics?

Thanks,
Neal

I've no Navico info for you, but I do have a Benmar hydraulic drive that was remaining when the Benmar control head was no longer functioning. I found it easy to marry a Nexus control to it. As you said,- current to drive the hydraulic pump one direction or the other.. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew
